If you think you’re ready to show support for unionizing graduate assistants at the University of Hawaiʻi, sign a union card!
A union card is also called a “showing of interest”. It’s essentially voting with your signature that you want to form a union with your co-workers. Our union cards are not legally binding, but serve to help us demonstrate majority support for unionization among graduate employees at the University. Union cards are available either as paper cards or electronic forms and ask for personal information (like name, job title, email address).
Union cards are kept with ALU – names and information of card signers are never shared with management. Under certain circumstances, the cards may be shown to a neutral third party for purposes of verifying that a majority of the employees have chosen union representation. In such a situation, the third party shares no information with the company except whether or not the union has achieved majority status.
By clicking the submit card button above, I affirm that I am a graduate employee of the University of Hawaiʻi and that I want to be represented, for purposes of collective bargaining, by a union.
