A harm to one is a harm to all. The labor of the working class in Hawaiʻi is exploited on lands belonging to Kanaka Maoli which are currently colonized and occupied by the United States. The dialectical histories and presents of land and labor struggles in the islands converge at the University of Hawaiʻi which stands as a settler colonial and capitalist institution complicit in perpetuating harm to both graduate student workers and the Hawaiian people. With solidarity and accountability, the members of Academic Labor United stand in defense of the working class and Hawaiian lands, fighting to empower and represent the rank-and-file graduate workers of the University of Hawaiʻi as we commit ourselves to the abolition and decolonization of the material conditions that oppress us all.
